ROAR Has Been Renamed
  
The Rotary International Fellowship, formerly known as Rotarians of Amateur Radio, or ROAR, has been renamed Regions of Amateur Radio.

This action followed a decision by Rotary International to disestablish the Rotarians of Amateur Radio fellowship as of the 25th May 2023. The decision was taken because of disagreement on a number of fellowship governance issues, mainly around financial management and bylaws. In short, the various ROAR leaders could not all agree on a way ahead, which resulted in the Rotary fellowship being wound up.

While the formal links with Rotary no longer exist, former members of ROAR now continue to engage in their amateur radio activities through a renamed group called Regions of Amateur Radio, the new ROAR.

Little has changed at the grass roots level. Members still have scheduled radio nets, both on HF and digital modes.

But, two major changes have occurred. First, former members from North and South America have split from the new group. Secondly, members of the new ROAR no longer pay fees or have any financial obligations. The new ROAR is a purely informal group of radio amateurs who have a common interest in Rotary and the hobby of amateur radio.
